Stats tell you how hard a creature hits. Skills tell you what buttons it presses. The trait is the part of an Aniimo that never turns off — a passive carried into every fight that quietly decides which team the creature actually belongs on. This page lists all 53 published traits in one reverse-lookup table: the official effect text, and exactly which creatures carry each one.

All data is verified against the official Aniimo Index as of August 19, 2026, ahead of the confirmed September 16, 2026 PC and console launch (mobile follows September 23).

What a Trait Actually Does

A trait is an always-on rule, not a button. It fires from its condition — entering battle, attacking a weakened element, getting hit, buffing a teammate — and everything else in the kit bends around it:

  • Emberpup’s Scorching Flames (+15% damage into element weaknesses) turns the whole Fire line into matchup hunters.
  • Arc Surge shares 25% Lightning damage with every teammate the creature buffs — a support kit hiding inside an offense statline.
  • Counter Strike answers getting hit with 30% BREAK efficiency — the guard-crushing answer for Breaker families.

That’s the trait layer’s real job: it is the family’s playstyle in one sentence. Skills and stats scale; the trait decides why you brought this creature.

The Family Rule: One Trait, Three Stages

The published data shows a clean pattern — every trait belongs to an entire evolution family. All three stages of a line carry the identical trait and effect text; what changes on evolution is the statline and skill power, never the trait.

Two consequences worth internalizing before launch:

  1. You can preview a family before committing. Read the trait on a stage-1 creature and you know the ceiling behavior of its final form.
  2. Traits are the real team-building axis. With 53 traits across the roster’s family lines, overlap is scarce — a trait you skip is a mechanic your team doesn’t have.

How Traits Interact With Everything Else

Traits sit inside Aniimo’s larger multiplication chain, and the best builds stack the layers deliberately:

  • Element matchups — damage traits like Scorching Flames multiply on top of the 1.6x weakness / 0.625x resist grid on the type chart.
  • Quality tiers — a Perfect vs Elite roll changes the stats feeding a trait, never the trait itself.
  • BREAK pressure — guard-breaking traits compound with Breaker-role statlines; pair them with the skill table on the skills list.
  • Forms — every form of a species shares one trait and statline; see the forms guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are traits in Aniimo?

Traits are the passive identity of an Aniimo — an always-on effect the creature carries into every fight, published on the official index under each creature’s Trait section. Unlike skills, you never cast a trait; it shapes how the whole kit plays.

How many traits are in Aniimo?

The 94 published creatures share 53 distinct traits. Each trait belongs to an evolution family — every published trait currently sits on exactly the three stages of one family line, so traits are the fastest way to tell families apart.

Do traits change when an Aniimo evolves?

No. All three stages of an evolution line carry the same trait — Emberpup, Flameruff and Scorchhowl all keep Scorching Flames. Traits are the family constant; what evolves is the statline and skill power.

Can you change or upgrade a trait in Aniimo?

Nothing official has been published about changing or upgrading traits. Community beta notes describe potential systems that may touch them, but until the September 16, 2026 launch this page treats every trait as fixed to its family.

What is the best trait in Aniimo?

There is no single best — trait value depends on team comp and matchup. Damage ampers like Scorching Flames reward element-targeting playstyles, while BREAK and buff-sharing traits support faster guard breaks. Sort the table below by owner count to see which families cornered the strongest niches.
